Steep Ravine is one of my favorite places I’ve camped since moving to California 10 years ago. You are perched right above the ocean at the campsites there. Close to a sandy beach on one side and a great tidepool on the other where I’ve seen starfish, small crabs and even an eel of some sort one time (eww).
This made it a good choice to spend part of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at (especially when there was magically a spot a available…. guessing someone canceled due to other Xmas plans that came up). I’ve been many times now both on car camping trips and more minimalistic bike camping trips. Either way you get a great camping experience with wood that you can buy on the spot for a nice fire at night and there is clean running water and not so bad bathroom facilities as well. Not exactly ruffing it but a good time for sure! It can just be really hard to book a spot so good luck with that! They have environmental spots (bring your own tent) and cabins available too.
I took a few video clips and photos with my Parrot Bebop drone this trip. You can barely see my little Big Agnes tent in the middle of the photo below.
Here are a few video clips from the drone that I quickly edited together.
1080P isn’t crystal clear but better than cheapy drones that shoot unstabilized video or that can’t be flown outdoors. Can get one for under $200 if you go refurb from Amazon. http://amzn.to/2obj2E2
Some short 4K video clips I edited together from my Sony FDR-X3000 Action Cam.
I had posted this timelapse to my Sony FDR-X3000 Action Cam review page but wanted to share again since it’s from this trip!
